Am I the Lord’s Donkey?
Dearly Beloved,
I invite you to think along with me, Am I ready to be a Donkey for the Lord?
Luke 19:30-35
· You will find a colt (Donkey) tied! (Lk19:30)
· On which NO ONE has ever sat! (Lk19:30)
· Untie it! (Lk19:30)
· The Lord has need of it! (Lk 19 :31)
· Throwing their cloakes on the Colt! (Lk19:35)
So firstly,
You will find a colt (Donkey) tied! (Lk19:30). Just like this donkey, You might be tied up to something and that something might haunt you, make you peaceless, and you might be in a state where you have lost your freedom that you once had. This is not what the Lord wants. Jesus wants you to be free through him. Gal 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. When we speak of being tied up, it also refers to being unnoticed inspite of being talented and able, having dreams but without having any hope. But, Remember my friend… Just like Joseph who was tied up in prison, who lost all the hope must have been frustrated. But he was patient and had faith. And since our God is faithful he exactly knows and remembers our crisis and struggles. But little did Joseph knew that going down to prison was his next step up in his life as a governor. And just like God remembered Joseph in the prison journery he will remember you.
In this passage, the disciples are sent to untie the donkey and to set it free. Even in John 3:16 we find God sending his one and only son to set us free. This reveals the perfect love that God has for you and me. Incase you’re tied up look up, keep holding on and know that its not forever… it’s a part of his plan.
Now moving to the second point,
· On which NO ONE has ever sat! (Lk19:30)
Why should the passage specify the detail that ‘noone has ever sat’. It proves that the donkey was never been used by anyone.
In your life, you might have never been recognized for who you are? You might not have used your talents at all. Certainly even felt not needed by anyone. But you know what? God definitely needs what people might not need. 1Cor 1:27 says“ But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.” He needs you my friend.
Jer 18:6 Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand. Yes, he sees you as a wonderful vessel in his beautiful hand.
The 3rd point that stands out to me is when Jesus commands
his disciples to “Untie it!” (Lk19:30).
As we process our thoughts on this passage we are aware that “Jesus wants us to be FREE”.
Yes, he comes to your rescue right in time. From the life of Joseph we learn that God works slowly and suddenly. The silence does’nt mean that you are forgotten, it simply means he is still working on the other side, as we heard that waiting time is not a wasting time. And when the time comes the Lord will fight for us. Exo 14:14 "The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." He will fight for us and untie us from the things that we are tied to. Enjoy your Freedom my Friend!
The 4th spark to think…
The Lord has need of the Donkey! (Lk 19 :31)
When men find us to be worthless, God says I see my child as priceless. He who has called us is faithful and is with us. Romans 8:30 says, “And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.” He has predestined us and he knows us even before we were formed in our mothers womb and he knows our name. You are famous in our father’s eyes. Never think you are of no use…The Lord needs you…Will you be the hands and feet for Jesus?
The 5th point brings the passage to an end…
Throwing their cloakes on the Colt! (Lk19:35)
The climax seems amazing is’nt it?
The unnoticed, tied up, worthless donkey is offered a royal treatment because of the royal king who chooses to ride on it. 1 Peter 2:9 says But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; So when we obey his voice and give up our fleshly desires and be willing to surrender completely to be used by him, he will honor us just like the donkey received grace to be used by the king. King Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart today, If you are willing to invite him he will come to dwell in your heart and transform you as the Lord’s own Donkey.
Shall we pray?
Loving father I invite you today to take the lead in my life and I give you control over my desires, emotions, dreams, and my future. As your word says, You have plans for me to prosper and I trust in you blindly and ask you to ride on me in the route you choose to travel to reach your destinations using me. I thank you for choosing to ride on me from today. In Jesus matchless name I pray Amen.
The Lord has chosen you just like he chose the Donkey!
